Insurance & Your Move

Moving involves the handling and transportation of household and personal belongings and, despite the care taken by our team, there is always some risk of loss or damage.

Fair & Square Moving Solutions maintains a range of business insurances. However, it is important to understand that these policies do not provide comprehensive insurance for all of your belongings against every type of accidental loss or damage during a move.

We encourage all customers to understand the level of protection available to them before their move and, where appropriate, consider arranging their own comprehensive moving or contents insurance.

Insurance Held by Fair & Square Moving Solutions

Our insurance arrangements include:

Transit / Carriers Insurance
Cover of up to $100,000 per vehicle, subject to the terms, conditions, exclusions and limits of the applicable policy.

This insurance is not comprehensive contents insurance and should not be understood as covering every instance of loss, breakage or accidental damage that may occur while items are being handled, loaded, transported or unloaded.

Public Liability Insurance
Cover of up to $5 million per claim, subject to the terms, conditions, exclusions and limits of the applicable policy.

Workers Compensation Insurance
We maintain workers compensation insurance as required in the jurisdictions in which we operate.

Copies of relevant certificates of currency can be requested by contacting us.

Accidental Damage & Your Belongings

Our team takes reasonable care when handling and transporting your belongings, and we use appropriate moving equipment, protective materials and handling techniques to minimise the risk of damage.

However, the insurance maintained by Fair & Square Moving Solutions does not provide blanket or comprehensive accidental-damage cover for your belongings.

For example, damage such as an item being scratched, chipped, internally damaged, mechanically failing or otherwise being damaged during a move is not automatically covered simply because it occurred during the moving process.

Whether Fair & Square Moving Solutions is responsible for any particular loss or damage will depend on the circumstances, including how the damage occurred and our obligations under applicable law and our Terms & Conditions.

Nothing on this page, or in our Terms & Conditions, is intended to exclude, restrict or modify any rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable legislation.

Additional Moving Insurance

Customers who would like broader protection for their belongings should consider arranging appropriate insurance before their move.

Depending on the policy, specialist moving or contents insurance may provide protection for accidental damage, loss, breakage and other events that are not covered by the insurance maintained by Fair & Square Moving Solutions.

If you are considering additional insurance, you should review the relevant Product Disclosure Statement (PDS), policy terms, limits and exclusions and determine whether the cover is appropriate for your circumstances.

You may wish to speak with your existing home and contents insurer, a licensed insurance broker, or a specialist moving-insurance provider.

Important: Check Your Existing Contents Insurance

Before purchasing additional cover, we suggest checking your existing home and contents insurance policy.

Some policies may provide limited cover while your belongings are being moved, while others may exclude goods in transit or require additional cover to be arranged.

You should confirm this directly with your insurer.
